upon Avon and Warwick Castle
Stratford upon Avon, during the spring / summer, is one
of the most delightful places in England as the Mayor encourages
the horticultural environment by making sure there are flowers
all over the Town. It is really a most wonderful welcome to
any visitor. Of course you should plan to be there when it
is sunny…
Much to see here, starting of course from Shakespeare’s
family home; then, we can go on to see his dear wife’s,
Anne Hathaway family home which is even larger than the former.
It needn’t end there in the way of houses. For the keen
in Shakespeare’s family history you can also find Mary
Arden's House, Anne Hathaway’s mother where she spent
her childhood there.
The Royal Shakespeare Theatre is only a pleasant walk from
the Town centre where the river Avon dominates part of that
particularly busy area.
The Town offers a great variety of shops, very old buildings
going back few centuries such as the “old school”
which is still in full function; there is a very welcoming
Antiques Centre with perhaps 30 antiques dealers where a visit
for the keen collector can be very enjoyable.
We then proceed to Warwick Castle. It is only a 15 minutes
bus ride on the other side of the motorway. This is one of
the best and most visited Castles in England. It offers the
visitor an impressive historic collection varying from armours
to skilled labour and from archery to kitchenalia. On preset
days there is a re-enactment of a feudal battle in the Castle
grounds, acted by members of the staff and of the community
of Stratford, in full costume!
Because these are individual tours, (up to 16 persons),
the minibuses used for these is far more versatile than the
usual large and cumbersome coaches, so we can take you to
see places where otherwise many tourists undoubtedly miss
out.
One other great advantage is that we can stop anywhere you
choose rather than the pre-arranged, obligatory stops tourists
have to do when in larger groups.
